Is it true your pitches are really generous?
Yes, many of our pitches are double the size of other campsites, and almost all are at least 8m wide and between 10m and 15m long. This feels very spacious, and is plenty big enough for the largest of tents - usually with room for a separate gazebo or pup tent, and to park a vehicle on the pitch as well. And with rows of saplings providing a natural border in between pitches, your space is your own without the meadow feeling too segmented.
Will my caravan fit?
Well, our pitches are plenty big enough for all sizes of touring caravans, but our driveway has a tight bend and narrow bridge which make it difficult for very long and/or extended width caravans to access the site. Generally we advise that caravans over 8.5m long OR over 2.3m (7ft) are not suitable to enter the site. That said, some 8ft wide x 8m long caravans and some 9m long x 7ft wide caravans have managed it before; it's just difficult and you risk damaging your vehicles and our bridge. At the end of the day, you may try at your own risk and we are not liable for any damages.
What are the check-in and out times?
Check in from 1pm. Check out by 12 noon. Last check in is at 10pm but this may be flexible in certain circumstances if you inform us in good time.
Do you have any noise limits or curfew times?
Nope, no rules as such, except the one golden rule of 'harmonise with others around you'. The vast majority of our guests like it that way and we very rarely get excessive noise, rowdiness or conflict. We don't allow stag or hen parties and respectfully ask people to "keep it down" if anyone is causing a disturbance (which seldom happens). Barring the odd exception, it works well like that - most of our customers 'get it'.
What's the maximum number of people we can have on one pitch, and can we invite other guests to join us onsite?
Maximum 6 people per pitch (including any children under 6) that are to stay the night. Additional guests may be added to the booking at £3 per person up to this limit. If you want to invite additional people (eg. local friends) to join you just for the day or evening (no later than 11pm) but not to stay the night, the 6 person/2 car limit may be extended but only with the permission of the manager. The same £3 per person price will apply and there may be an additional surcharge for extra car parking. This is at the discretion of the manager and will depend on noise levels, general behaviour, site capacity, available parking spaces, etc. Guests must always seek permission from the manager before other guests are allowed onsite, and the manager's decision is final.
What time of year is best?
It depends what your priorities are. May is great for wildflowers. June tends to be quiet before the summer holidays start (good fishing in June too). If you like having more people around, July and August are for you. Then September it gets quiet again. If you are very sensitive to noise and/or coming specifically for some solitude, be aware that in peak season (the May Bank Holidays and most of August especially weekends) we tend to be very busy, and that inevitably means more noise.
Are you open all year round?
Yes, we are. Winter camping is a thing here - even in the snow. Obviously we don't get that many campers between October and March, but we're open as usual. Most of our pricing is the same all year round, but please note that we charge a higher rate for Electric Hook Up in the winter season to allow for the usage of heaters. We usually restrict vehicles driving on the meadow at that time of year, simply because it gets too wet and muddy, so our hard-standing pitches are more popular. You can still walk on the grass and pitch tents as normal.
How's the general hygiene and cleanliness?
Hey, we're fairly neat and tidy but it's important to point out that we're not spotlessly hygienic like some of the bigger, more expensive campsites are. This price point doesn't buy you a full time cleaner who will mop up after you, or flush the loo if your kids forget to. You'll be sharing a minimalist campsite with other human beings, some of whom will leave a few 'traces' behind. We clean up periodically but don't expect a shiny finish all the time. We're not trying to be like that. We're semi-wild, and we invite you to get in touch with YOUR semi-wild side. If that appeals to you, you should find our basic level of hygiene acceptable. The majority of our customers praise us for compromising in this way (instead of other ways) in order to keep costs down.
Do you limit Electric Hook Up usage?
Yes, unfortunately we sometimes need to. As everyone knows, electricity has become very expensive and is now a significant running cost that threatens the survival of low budget venues like us... so we're having to take steps to prevent misuse that would otherwise force us to raise our overall prices. Standard EHU Allowance (April to September) = 15kWh/day. High Usage/Winter EHU Allowance (October to March) = 30kWh/day. The use of Heaters, Water Heaters and Air Conditioners is not allowed when paying the Standard EHU Rate. Guests wishing to use those appliances and/or exceed the daily allowance will need to pay an additional £5 surcharge intended for high usage. Each £5 surcharge buys an additional 15kWh allowance. These rates reflect the overall costs of providing this service including infrastructure, maintenance, compliance, taxes, fees, etc. Charging of electric vehicles is strictly prohibited and a fine of £200 may be issued.
What games or activities are there for kids?
We have a small play area featuring several swings and a wendy house, which are popular with younger children. There are also a few wooded areas, long grasses and a shallow stream that are fun to explore (at your own risk - adult supervision recommended). We also have a larger stream which is currently out of bounds due to storm damage and which we hope to reopen for next year (2027). The main field has a flat area suitable for ball games like football, etc. Suggested games to bring with you include: boules, badminton, acrylic colouring pens (for painting rocks). We are very much an 'old school' venue where kids are encouraged to 'relearn' how to play and entertain themselves without relying on modern technology, and it's amazing how they tend to discover this - particularly when friendship groups form. It's important to note that we're not a campsite that offers entertainment and organised activities like the larger venues do.
How about internet connectivity and phone signal?
Not great. In this location, we don't have the bandwidth to provide Wifi to our campsite guests, so getting online will depend on your own device and network provider (Vodafone works okay here. EE is patchy. Three and O2 are worse - only occasionally getting signal). Certainly don't expect speeds or reliability like you are used to in towns and cities. Some guests bring devices like signal boosters, antennae or StarLink in order to improve their connectivity, but in general Teifi Meadows is aimed at those looking for an off-grid, digital detox so if online entertainment is important to you, we may not be the best choice.
Are there places to go for walks?
Yes, but most require you to drive first. There are no public footpaths directly from the site itself so you either have to walk down the lane a short distance (500m), or drive (5-10 mins) to where the footpaths begin. As long as you don't mind that, the Ceredigion countryside and Cambrian mountains have some stunning scenery and lots of unique features to see. We've marked some of the local walks on a big map in the shower block to help you plan your excursions.
Are there any shops or pubs within walking distance?
Unfortunately not anymore, and we don't have a shop onsite either. The nearest stores are 10 minutes drive (1hr+ walk) away in Lampeter, where you'll find 2 supermarkets (with cash machines), several takeaways, cafes, restaurants and pubs (serving food also) as well as various local stores. In the other direction, Tregaron (15 minutes drive) has a few options too, but it's generally best to bring everything you're going to need with you.
Are you easy to find?
Yes, very, but there are two things to bear in mind if using satellite navigation to find us. Firstly, be careful the sat nav doesn't try to take you through one of our neighbours' farms (!). If you can't see our Fach Ddu/Teifi Meadows sign at the entrance, it's probably the wrong turning. And secondly, if approaching from the south (M4/South Wales/Llandeilo), about 25 minutes before arrival, Google Maps and most sat navs recommend coming off the A482 at Pumsaint, turning right onto the Sarn Helen mountain road. Whilst this road has some breathtaking scenery, it's difficult for large vehicles and is not recommended for motorhomes/caravans - particularly as there is a ford to cross. Instead it's better to stay on the A482 until just before Lampeter and then turn right on the B4343.
Can we have a camp fire?
You can indeed, but it must be within a firepit or barbecue - something raised off the ground.
What extras do you charge for?
Nothing really - only firewood if you want it. We don't charge for showers or using our firepits. We provide real 3-ply toilet paper. You don't need to pay extra to put up an awning, gazebo or pup tent (as long as it's not used for sleeping in). The only time we might apply a surcharge is if you use too much electricity, bring additional guests or additional cars - if you exceed the agreed allowances basically.
How environmentally friendly are you?
Extremely. 95% of our electricity is generated right here onsite, and we recycle about 95% of your waste. We even grow our own organic fruit and veg behind the scenes and use the campfire ashes for our composting...so yep, minimal impact venue here.
Is the site suitable for disabled persons?
Unfortunately our shower block is not equipped for disabled access at this time.
Is there any fishing nearby?
Yes, the River Teifi has some well-known stretches for trout that are run by two clubs. The closest waters, which are within easy walking distance to the west of the campsite (downstream), are run by Llandysul Angling Association - contact us for a map showing the exact spots. Upstream, 15 mins by car, are the waters run by Tregaron Angling Association. We advise anglers to do their own research and to always fish responsibly.
